I have an issue with the oil filter when trying to use it. I have been using the filter with out any problems at all up untill now.
Today when I try to open it, all it does is flash up for a second and then close. It doesn't give me any error messages it just flickers and closes.
Photoshop doesn't crash, the other filters all work. Also I noticed in the filter drop down menu that the oil painting doesn't have a shortcut next to it like the others, and I cannot remember if it had one before or is suppossed to have one.
My graphics card is up to date.
Any help appreciated.
Try changing the value of your OpenCL parameter in the Advanced GPU settings, then closing and restarting Photoshop.
Wne you say your graphics card is up to date... What card is it, specifically, and how have you ensured it's up to date? There are some special rules for specific cards.
By the way...
Oil Paint Filter:
Ha ha! So I changed my Oil filter and still nothing!
However my Oil Paint Filter is stil not working. I have the OpenCL checked and set to advanced. Restarted and still nothing.
I meant to say I had updated my graphics card drivers. The card is a ASUS EAH5450 series.
Every other filter is fine. The filter worked with no problem for weeks an now still just flickers up and shuts down.
That's an ATI Radeon HD 5450 card at its core.
ATI has been struggling to release good drivers since late last year.
I don't know what version you've updated them to, since you didn't say, but it's possible you didn't get the latest beta version. ALL the releases have been bad (for use with Photoshop) since ATI Catalyst 12.8. Catalyst 12.8 was the last good release, though the current beta (Catalyst 13.3 beta 3) is also good. I'm running Catalyst 13.3 beta 3 myself, without fault.
I recommend browsing to the AMD web site and seeking out Catalyst 13.3 beta 3, specifically.
