Ripples

Mar 28, 2013 7:59 PM

Not sure if I already asked, but I don't have an answer, so I was wondering how to do a ripple or ray gun effect in Premiere Pro CS6. Such as an alien shooting a beam. What general effect in Premiere or plugin can help me with this. Please and Thanks! I am glad people like you take your time to read this!

There are probably dozens of ways to do this kind of thing.  Check out Film Riot from Revision 3.  They offer tips and tricks for a lot of filmmaking techniques.

AE is the right tool for this type of thing.

Could be done in Premiere ( simply / crudely) but the main advantage of AEFX is the ability to track the object to the subject.

Best way is for you to check out an AEFX 'tracking" tutorial for full understanding.

IN short.  AEFX has the capability to track points on a moving subject eg a swinging hand holding a sabre sword.

Then one can attach the object ( sabre sword) to the point on the hand and it will follow ( track with) the hand movement.
