How can I scan photos into Elements II?

I have Elements II , an iMac using OSX ver.10.8.3 & HP's Photosmart C7180 printer, fax, scanner & copier. Ican print photos from Elements Editor, and can scan photos from the flat bed & print, but can't locate an option for scanning photos in Elements. I've talked with Apple tech, who told me this is and Adobe issue. I have thousands of photos that I'd like to scan & eliminate the need for keeping photos in boxes. I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks !

Jim M.

You need to install the TWAIN plugin to scan into Elements. Assuming this is not the App Store version, you would go to Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 11>Support Files>Optional Plugins and move the ImportModules folder to Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 11>Support Files>Plugins.
