Ive created a MYSQL account and created a table, i then tried to insert 'data assist wizard search' to a php page in dreamweaver but it kept telling me i need to create a recordset first but when i try to do so no tables are found and there seems to be a problem with the mysql connection but i dont know what this message below means?
Where have you got your site folder located on your computer?
Have you set up WAMP, XAMPP or MAMP?
Is the site folder located within the htdocs folder of one of the above?
Have you defined the testing server correctly in Dreamweaver?
No i dont have any of those set up, my site folder is located here - /Users/vanessaroberts/sites/Miles and Daughters. and it tells me im connected successfully to my server when i hit the test button within site set up?
By default most hosts disallow remote connections. Can you confirm with your host that you have setup mySQL to allow remote connections from your IP address?
Also, just an FYI, DW typicaly looks for the testing server database first which are the programs osgood mentioned. It's never advised to perform testing on live data.
Ok, i was going to use false data to start with on a testing site first so i thought that would be acceptable. Ive contacted my host and they said i cant connect remotely to database but can connect via
How do i setup dreamweaver to that?
You can't. DW connects to the database server. If it's not allowed, export your database, install WAMP/MAMP/XAMPP as suggested and import the data. Then we can help you setup a testing server so DW can connect.
