I just upgraded to CS6 from CS5, I design documents that are mostly text with sometimes a few objects and graphics. They are usually letter size and sometimes I need to convert them to A4 paper size. I've been doing this manually by creating a new document everytime and it is a real pain.
I'm wondering if Alternate/liquid layout can automate this somehow? I watched the video of it and it seems like it would work but I don't really understand how to do it and what settings it should be on. Is this something that can be done?
It can work, but you need to think it out for the kind of files you work with to see whether it will save you time.
The best tutorial I've seen is Anne-Marie Concepcion's "InDesign CS6 New Features" title:
Lynda.com isn't free but there is a free week when you first register:
You need to choose between different kinds of Liquid Guide rules. I recommend Object-based or Guide-based but it's NOT automatic. You need to select which objects will be affected by the change in page size.
