    Which operating system?

    Which version of Photoshop?

What kind of images? Can you post a screenshot here using the Camera icon in the forum toolbar?

Has this just started happening or has it been an ongoing issue for a while?

What you're showing is not even close to an Adjustment Layer.

Or are you saying now that just running Auto Color has done what's shown to your image?

Do you really know what the auto is doing?  Perhaps some weird setting that turns all colors on to make white.

If you use curves, or some other manual color adjustemnt,  what happens?    If you use auto within curves what happens?

Having your target Black Point set to white will cause this problem in the auto adjusts (Auto Tone, Contrast and Color).

Try resetting your Photoshop preference file.

Hold down shift+Alt+Control IMMEDIATELY as you launch Photoshop. You will get a small dialog to OK resetting your preferences.

Have you tried the other suggestions mentioned in the thread?  I think Charles may be onto the problem.

I don't have any other ideas what might be wrong, short of corrupted preferences or even possibly a corrupted installation.
