I wonder if you can help me.
I just made a dual-layer DVD image from a project and it created a 7GB file. Now I'd like to try a single-layer disk image at 4.7GB, something I did with an earlier version of this project, resulting in a watchable disk on a smaller TV.
Having made the 7GB image, Encore won't let me make the 4.7GB version but I don't understand why.
Are you using AVI or MPEG2-DVD as your video source?
If AVI, you "should" be able to change your output to single layer and have Encore transcode again
If MPEG2-DVD I think you will need to go back to PPro and re-export
I don't know the answer to your AVI/MPEG2-DVD question. Sorry.
I simply imported my PPro sequences, built my menus and created the disk image for a dual-layer disk. Whatever source format that involves, that was the one I've used. How can I find out?
Is there an alternative way of building a disk that will allow me to choose all DVD/image/Blu-ray output options without starting again?
Check these 2 things:
Right click on your movie "asset" and pick "revert to original." This allows Encore to transcode it again at a lower bitrate to fit it on the smaller disk. Encore happily keeps your first version until you tell it not to.
On the build tab, did you change the disk size (under "Disk Info")?
That's brilliant. Thanks.
I had changed Disk Info on the build tab but didn't know what "revert to original" meant.
I now have Blu-ray, two-layer and single-layer DVD image files for my completed project.
