i purchased a symbol package online and it came with these instructions ... http://www.vectorian.net/pages/how-to-us… that i followed to a T. the problem.,. well the symbols and the brushes do not show in library for me to use. the package name showed in the library.. but when i click on it, the list is empty. what may i be doing wrong? how can i get them to show in the library permanently please?
by the way, when i open the downloaded package using Ai, the symbols are there and i am able to open them no problem. but i can't get them to populate in the brushes, symbols library.
i have sent several emails to the seller and no response. i just hung up from adobe support after holding 1 hour and 15 minutes before they came online only to be told that they can't give me support because i am only on a trial software and i don't have a serial number. it would be nice if they had a message saying that no support without a serial number. i would have saved that one hour!!
i followed the instructions to go to program files, Adobe, Illustrator, Presets, Brushes and save there. then in illustrator, from the right side of toolbar, i clicked on the brush icon to get its box, then clicked on the menu icon, then library (or add to library i forget and i'm not at home.. this stuff is on my laptop). but that's how i did it. and did it in symbols also to see if it shows. this file that i purchased is a zip file that has 2 folders in it. i tried to do that with both folders. nothing. like i mentioned before, it gave me the name of the package in the brushes list but no symbols for me to use
i could open them as a picture file and i see the symbols.
but i cannot get them to open inside the symbol or brush panels via the library menu they (brushes and symbols) have.
i can drag and drop in brushes and symbol menu to use but they don't stay there for me to work on other projects i need them on. once i close that ai file .. they are gone.
But actually your description of the problem is quite vague. I'm still unsure about what your problem actually is.
i hope this is clearer. thank you for trying to help.
that's what i did (in the beggining then i started trying other ways because it didn't work). do you see where it says "grunge brushes vector pack" on your example above? well.. mine says my pack name there but the brushes are not there. that is really my issue. it seams that i am doing the right things. but there must be something wrong. the brushes are not populating. i think there is something amiss here. maybe the file is corrupt? but the file seams fine. the brushes are there.. etc.. ughhhh this is really silly. it's taken me now a week and still no resolution.
thanks for your time. i seriously appreciate your effort.
Please show us some step by step screenshots of what you do, where you see stuff and mark in them what you expect Illustrator to do for you.
- the files are corrupt (or at least not working the way they should be)
- you're doing it wrong
- you're expecting something that simply doesn't work that way
FINALLY. i got a response from the seller of the package. he said that the package i bought can only be used by opening the files and using the borders and symbols from the file and not via the brushes palet. allllllllllll this when this silly file doens't even do that. i knew something was wrong with the file. i was following directions like everyone is saying. and i was running out of ways to explain how i was doing it besides saying i am doing like u are saying it just aint working. lol. well, here i learned something at least,
thank you for sticking with me and trying to help. i appreciate it. and sorry to have wasted your time so
