I'm running Illustrator CS4 on Windows 7, under Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro. When I try to open any file or start a new document, the program crashes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Has this ever worked in the past, or a new install?
Try resetting your preferences. Hold down (Ctrl Shift Alt) - WIN immediately after booting Illustrator. Since you are on bootcamp, you may have to check exactly what your key equivalents are (Shift Option Command).
Sorry did not remember this earlier. Change what printer you have selected, usually happens when no printer is selected after a new install or an old .ppd is used on your printer. I know this problem exists on mac, not sure if on Win.
Mike, that worked -- I think! I couldn't change the printer without a document open, but while I was in the File menu, I noticed the "Browse in Bridge" command, and it occurred to me that I hadn't tried opening a file from Bridge. It opened first to the templates, and I realized I had not tried opening a template. So I did, that worked, and I changed the printer from where it was set (Adobe pdf) to my regular printer. Now I can create new files, and all files seem to open without a problem. Thanks!
