In Visual Aids (the Eye icon), are Fluid Grid Guides enabled?

Are your Divs narrow enough to fit on the line above?  If not resized to fit, you'll need to do that first.

The 12.2 update made major improvements to the Fluid Grid Feature. Insert Div is all you need.  DW knows it's a fluid grid layout.  You can read more about the changes below:

    Hi incogniyo77,

Hope your issue was resolved after looking into upgrade details.

Kindly revert if the problem still persists.

    Cheers!

That video did not help. You have taken away the make new row checkbox and not told us how to implement that.

    Hi JoshuaACertain,

    That's a good Question.

DW now inserts the new Fluid element in new row by default.

If user doesn't want to start a new row, then they can click 'Move up a row' button (as shown in screenshot ), after inserting the element.

This was mainly done because, after class support in place now, user use this option once and then just simply duplicate the element to get the desired output(i.e. siblings next to each other) in one click..

Please let me know if something else was not clear in video too, I will be happy to explain the same.

    Cheers,

    Puneet

    Puneet:

I'm working with the trial version (and am quite frustrated).

On some div containers, I do not get the move-up, move-down nor even the resize handles. Perhaps I've corrupted something by accident? What's the fix?

Also, I think I've discovered that the div tags cannot be inserted in code view, correct?

    Thanks for your help.

Start over.  You obviously broke the media queries by manually editing code. It's best to not tamper with boilerplate.css or FluidGrid.css files.  To style content, use a separate external style sheet.

Owing to the way Fluid Grid layouts work, you should always build the Mobile layout first because these rules cascade down to Tablets and Desktops.  Then build Tablet.  Finally, build Desktop.

Below is an example page made with FluidGrid Layouts.  View source to see the code.

I haven't seen any examples of fluid grid layout with video embedded?

    That's important to me.

    Hi duschinski,

If an element was inserted as a fluid and Green HUD is missing that points tpo only one thing, that div or element has been corrupted.

By corrupted I mean some % values have been changes to such an extent that DW  is not able to recognize it as a Fluid element any more.

Can you please answer a few questions of mine so that I can understand this issue in a better way:

    1) Did you update any % values manually by going into your fluid CSS file (like for properties such as 'width' or 'margin')?

    2) If yes, please let me know, what was the requirement which forced you to do so ? basically just to understand what currently available visual tools were not able to do causing you to take manual update route?

    3) If no, please take me through the steps which caused this corruption  (If this is the case, i will be really interested as I have never seen that in action)

To answer your other question regarding video on FG page, Please feel free to insert HTML5 video inside any fluid element.

    Cheers,

    Puneet

    Puneet:

I wish I could recreate the crime. I've  been at this for most of four days now, and things are fuzzy.

Started off using a lot of advice from this series of videos:

    http://youtu.be/KkAoo3M6cDA

    http://youtu.be/uteuwsaTwMs

    http://youtu.be/VANa98W8acU

    http://youtu.be/VqTiSe1hKOk

I'm trying to design a page with four options of video format (not just a Youtube) and lugging that around a fluid grid has been a nightmare, especially on -- of all things -- the LARGE-SCREEN layout. See: http://www.BuckheadPersonalTraining.com/FluidGrid/index.html

By the way, I have never seen that screen shot you posted to JoshuaACertain. I get an arrow but not the other icons.

Very frustrated (but I'll never give up)

    Thanks.

    duschinski,

Please have a look at latest Video on using DW Fluid Grids.

    http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2013/02/updated-fluid-grids-in-drea mweaver.html

By the way, I have never seen that screen shot you posted to JoshuaACertain. I get an arrow but not the other icons.

We have done some significant functional upgrade to FG functionality. its more intutive now with better UI support.

more details can be found here : http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/fluid-grid-layout-dreamweaver .html

To add to that nesting of elements is now supported and DW FG also has class support.

I totally understand the Frustration which happens when things don't work smoothly. We are working it, trying to continuously improve the product with such iterative feedback.

Hence, It will be really helpful to know if DW FG CSS got messed up by some UI operation or was it because of some manual update to CSS.

I'm trying to design a page with four options of video format (not just a Youtube) and lugging that around a fluid grid has been a nightmare, especially on -- of all things -- the LARGE-SCREEN layout. See: http://www.BuckheadPersonalTraining.com/FluidGrid/index.html

After looking at your site briefly , i can suggest that, add a top level parent div inside that have a 2 child divs.

1st child can contain the logo and featuring part while 2nd child can contain the HTML5 video tag which is now supported in DW.

This video tag will allow you to link it to multiple sources.

And, perhaps another part of the problem: my video code has its own div id, such as...

    <!-- Start EasyHtml5Video.com BODY section -->
    <div id="easyhtml5video" style="position:relative;width:480px;height:360px;"><video controls  autoplay="autoplay" poster="ARX.files/html5video/ARX.jpg" width="480" height="360" title="ARX">

    ?????

Would an Adobe staff person mind ascertaining if the DW trial version contains the latest updates?

    FYI --

I've just updated the trial version I downloaded less than five days ago. Two updates were installed (one had to do with extensions, but I didn't catch file names).

    Re-started my computer after download.

Even on a brand new "fluid grid" page, I don't get the icons for duplicating or deleting the DIV -- only the row-up and row-down arrows.

Using Mac OS Snow Leopard (10.6.8).

    duschinski,

The updates which i am talking about are available to cloud customers.

They are not available in trial version of the product. The update which you got was perhaps for some critical bug fixes.

To Access new Fluid grid your product version should be 12.2 and build no should 6006.

Can you share the build no ? i guess your version would be 12.0.2 or 12.0.3 ?
