I am working with the Web module in Lightroom 4 (now 4.4) to create an online gallery with photos. I like the layout of the HMTL default template and would like to use. The only problem I found is that I can't seem to find a way to change the size of the thumbnail images and the enlarged photo that appears once the viewer clicks on the thumbnail.
Is there a way to do this ?
I downloaded and installed the plug-in for your modified gallery but it doesn't seem to show on the my menu for Web Galleries in Lightroom 4.
Did I do something wrong or is there another step I may have overlooked? I would like to try your web gallery as it seems to be the perfect solution for my project.
I noticed as I reached the Web Galleries folder that it was empty. The plug-in for your web gallery was the first file inside the folder. Is this right?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Thanks for your help and reply to my post.
I have finally figured out how to change the size of the enlarged image. The basic or default HTML gallery is actually nice with the small default size of the thumbnails the only thing I found undesirable.
Considering John's modified web gallery and all the nice improvements he has made to the default version, I am excited about trying it.
As I downloaded the file and it was placed in the downloads folder, it was automatically unzipped by the system (the icon appears as the typical icon image for an Adobe plug-in).
I installed it last night so I restarted Lightroom and also restarted my system this morning.
This is the name of the plug-in file as I have it now in the Web Galleries folder:
Is this right?
I knew I had to be doing something wrong. I finally found it. I was looking at the template panel on the left. It is there on Layout Style panel on the right just as you said.
What an amazing job you have done. I am impressed with the layout and even more so with all the options you created to allow users to customize the gallery according to their preference and/or need.
Fantastic job. Thank you very much for your help and for sharing your gallery with all of us here.
Are you sure you are putting the correct folder into your LR Web Galleries folder? When you extract John's ZIP file, you will have a folder called default_html_modified.lrwebengine. Inside that folder is another folder with the same name. It's that one that you want to copy -- the one with all of the other files and folders inside it. See my attached image.
And, as John said, be sure you are looking at the panel on the upper right of the LR window.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: GLAD YOU FOUND IT!

Thank you for the link. I downloaded his latest, updated version and the gallery is amazing. John made some really nice changes that give the already useful HTML template a number of customization options.
I am kind of excited with this option in Lightroom. This is the first time I use this feature and I was really impressed with how easy it was to create a photo gallery and post it online.
With this in mind, I would like to get other web gallery designs in addition to John's to have a few options installed in Lightroom for present and future use. What third party gallery designs can you recommend that have good design? I am looking for both HTML(5) and Flash. I have already found one that seems nice (juicebook.net) but I would like to find others.
You are welcome.
As far as simple, straightforward HTML galleries go, John's gallery is perfect in my book.
Juicebox is nice because it will work on non-Flash mobile devices (like iPad, iPhone). I have not used it.
I use SlideShowPro for LR for my own website, and have found it to be very elegant and easy to work with. Take a look here:
