How do I keep tool settings from changing?

Apr 15, 2013 6:50 PM

I will change settings on a tool, use it for awhile, then change to a different tool.  When I return to the first tool, the settings have reverted to the defaults.  How do I keep them from changing while I am using a different tool?

Thanks!

That makes no sense, unless you are mistakenly trying to change tools via tool presets - which always load the settings associated with that preset.

Otherwise each tool can only remember the last used settings.

Again, that can't happen if you just switch using the tools in the toolbar.

But could if you select tool presets (which include specific tool settings).

What Chris is wondering is:  How, EXACTLY, are you changing tools?

Most just click on the tool they want to use in the Tools panel.

Thanks for the detail.  I can reproduce exactly what you're describing with Photoshop CS6 13.1.2.

What you want is reasonable.  Perhaps Adobe will fix it in the next release.
