Can't open PDF's in Dreamweaver

Apr 17, 2013 4:22 PM

I am unable to open PDF files from Dreamweaver, however I can access a PDF from my share drive.  I am using the Microsoft Office 7 Operating System, CS6 DreamWeaver and Adobe Acrobat X Pro.  I can map to the links and preview.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  Thanks, Karen

    Dreamweaver can not open PDF's. You can create links to the PDF file, but you need Acrobat or some similar application to open and view PDF files.

    This is not a DW issue, you need to bind the file extension to a program within windows as in

    It's not at all clear what you're trying to do.  Dreamweaver is web authoring software for editing HTML, CSS & JavaScript files.   PDF is print document.  Dreamweaver cannot open PDF files.  Use Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Reader to open PDF files.

    1. Go to Edit-->Preferences

    2. In the left column go to File Types/Editors

    3. If '.pdf, is not in the list of extensions, click the add button to add

    4. In the editors section, click the add button and choose the program

    5. Save and restart DW
