Saving issues with CS6

Apr 18, 2013 12:34 PM

Is there an issue with saving in InDesign CS6?  I keep trying to want to "Save" after I make a slight change and the software keeps trying to "Save As" and create a new file.  I will not allow me to save over the old file and it's annoying the hell out of me.

OS? Is ID patched to 8.0.1? Are you working with fies that have already been saved by CS6?

Do you have any third party plugins? What Mac utilities are running in the background?

The file may have opened as [Read Only]. I have this happen to me occasionally and I don't notice until I go to save and it only allows Save As.

You'll see [Read only] in the title bar next to the name of the document.

Usually a simple close and reopen will open it properly. Rarely I  need to close and re-open twice to shake it free.

Copied from optical media? Check the file properties and see if it's locked.

It may be a server issue. What happens if you copy it to the local hard drive and open from there?
