Dreamweaver CS6 "Not Responding" every 15 seconds or so

Apr 19, 2013 8:19 AM

I'm using Dreamweaver CS6 on Windows 7 64bit, though on searching Google the problem seems to be occurring occasionally on CS4 and CS5 too. Nothing can be done for about 10 seconds, when suddenly everything works again. We have two website I have been working on but I have noticed that when am working on our main website that's live for everyone to see, that's the one that freezes on me and I get the "No Responding" and the other one I have created is more for our use only and I don't have any problems with that one. Any Suggestions? and Thank you in advance.

    This happened to me when I first installed CS6.  I narrowed the culprit down to external scripts running on the page.  In my case it was caused by an ADD THIS widget.  But other people reported similar problems with Facebook & Google Ads code.

    Try commenting out any external widgets or scripts to see if this has an effect on DW's performance.

    Same thing here, can you give more details on your answer?

    I googled around, too many intricate details for indiv script companies etc etc-

    I don't know what commenting out  means ...

    - where are these widgets or scripts?

    where are these widgets or scripts?

    In your code.

    I don't know what commenting out  means ...

    Wrapping code inside comments hides it and prevents execution.  Some examples below:

    <!--this is an HTML code comment-->

    /**This is a CSS code comment**/

    //This is a one line JavaScript or PHP code comment

    /*This is a multi-line
    JavaScript

    code
    comment

    */

    Of course, thanks,

    Yes, we have AdRoll and www.iubenda.com/privacy script on

    almost all of our pages....(about 40)

    I temporarily deleted both on an open page, and voila`, no more problem ...

    What's interesting, leaving the 1st page open, I opened and messed with 3-4 more pages ,

    without deleting any more scripts, and everything still works fine ....

    Oops, it just froze again, but only when I look at Live mode ....

    Well, quick fix, remove the scripts while working, then paste back when done....

    A question,

    does Wrapping code inside comments

    prevent execution  just in DW? but still runs out in the real world?

    I assume so because we have a search box on a few pages,

    that came with the wrap ...

    ( <!-- start of freefind search box html --> )

    it's not a script, just html

    Thx for helping a newbie

    Well, Wrapping the script code inside comments doesn't help,

    I used the one from the search box  code ==

    <!-- start of freefind search box html -->

    <!-- end of freefind search box html -->

    and renamed

    Going to go ask AdRoll and iubenda now

    annoying to remove the scripts while working, then paste back when done....

    and forget sometimes lol

    You might have done it wrong, you don't wrap the code in a pair comments like a set of tags...

    <!-- comment --><script>your code</script><!-- comment -->

    You wrap the code inside a single comment...

    <!--  <script>yourcode</script> -->

    Go to View > Live View Options > Disable JavaScript.

    Repeat this each time you open a new page.

    Thanks for the replies-

    here's the iubenda script =

          <a href="http://www.iubenda.com/privacy-policy/516746" class="iubenda-black iubenda-embed" title="Privacy Policy">Privacy Policy</a>

                        <script type="text/javascript">(function (w,d) {var loader = function () {var s = d.createElement("script"), tag = d.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.src = "http://cdn.iubenda.com/iubenda.js"; tag.parentNode.insertBefore(s,tag);}; if(w.addEventListener){w.addEventListener("load", loader, false);}else if(w.attachEvent){w.attachEvent("onload", loader);}else{w.onload = loader;}})(window, document);</script>

    Wrapping inside a single comment works, but takes away the Button Icon =

    just shows "Privacy Policy" as plain text....

    maybe there's a variation w/o the "embed"

    Disable JavaScript works fine, one small step, no big deal....
