Anyone know if Flash CS7 will feature USB debugging for iOS?
Sure could be useful. Having a heck of a time troubleshooting internet connectivity right now. Suppose I could look into going back to command line compile, but support in CS7 would sure be helpful...
it's already available in cs6.
As I wrote, it's only available via Command Line builder...
" this feature is not available in Flash Builder or Flash Professional at the moment, a developer has to perform certain steps to get the debugging over USB working."
it's available in Flash Pro CS6 now via the Air for OS settings panel and via the Air for Android settings panel. no command line needed. just check the box and publish to the usb connected device.
it works flawlessly for me.
i've agreed to an adobe nda so i can't comment about the next Flash Pro release.
and, i don't use Flash Builder so i just don't know about its current or planned capabilities.

Sorry, my version of Flash CS6 is up-to-date and I just don't have any box to check. (Running AIR 3.6) Where is this located on your copy, in the Deployment tab?
Closest I have is a greyed-out option "on device via USB" in the Debug Movie menu.
i have flash 126.96.36.1999.
for example, select air for iOS 3.4 or 3.6 publish setting. there are probably a gazillion ways to access the edit application settings but i click the wrench icon in the properites panel next to the target combobox>click deployment and check the bottom of that panel.
Hmmm. I have the same exact version and that is also how I access the AIR publish settings. The only thing I have at the bottom of the Deployment pane is (under "Post Publishing") "Install application on connected iOS Device".
Nothing about USB anywhere on that, or any other of my panes...
That's not USB... it's connecting via wireless network. It's only INSTALLING over USB. I'm talking about a straight USB connection to communicate with the debug window. (This way, you can test your trace messages without wifi or network connection)
So far as I can tell, this feature is only available via command line compiling (as I first mentioned, and why I hope it's coming in CS7).
i think you're correct. i may have used a direct install an debug using a beta version of the next flash program.
i just tried to test with cs6 and install to the connected device and had a problem. i don't have time to debug the problem (it's such a pain in the behind to debug ios installation problems).
testing with the next version of flash works flawlessly. so, wait for the next version.
