Links to php pages

May 2, 2013 4:59 AM

I am fairly new to website design, and am trying to create a small website with the ability for the client to update a news section within the index page.  Having read another discussion here, I have seen a suggestion to use <?php include("content.php"); ?> and call my index page index.php instead of index.html.  I have managed to get the update process to work, but I wanted my index page to contain a link to another page, and then that 2nd page to have a link back to my index page.  I seem to be hitting a problem because the index page is called index.php, so when I click on the link on page 2 it just shows the code rather than the web page.  What do I need to do to be able to link back to a .php page?

What does the link look like on page 2?

    <a href="index.php">Index</a>

Are you testing this on a local testing server or a remote server. To run php pages you need either a local testing environment set up or a remote server running php.

The other point is how is the client updating the content.php file?
