You need to explain better and provide more info. Is anything happening at all? Do you get any warnings? Did it install properly in the first place? Do you run with sufficient user privileges?
Nothing is happening. It installed normally as far as I can tell. No warnings. Installed in administrator’s account.
It worked the first time installed, than stopped, the organizer would open for 1 second than the PSE would close. Un-installed and re-installed, now will not open at all. Although I can open editor via “open as administrator” occasionally but not the organizer.
This is a new desktop computer with near near top of line components, no more than one year old hardware. Very little software on the computer, windows 8, office, itunes, just basic stuff.
Sorry not much to go on, but appreciate the help.
One other interesting piece of information.
I just tried to install Premiere Elements 11, first time on this machine. I have the disc but used Adobe download assistant instead to get the current software. Upon launching for the first time I receive the following message:
I doubt un-installing and re-installing will resolve, I tried this several times with PSE 11 with no success.
Moving this discussion to the Photoshop Elements forum. Henry the error message you attempted to post in message #3 is not visible. Can you please type the error message or attach a screenshot. You can find information on how to attach an image to your post at http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2324.
Cannot attach a jpg or png, so I will type the error message out below:
"Configuration Error" Please uninstall and reinstall the product. If the problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen. Error: 1 http://www.adobe.com/support/"
Using windows 8, 64bit. I have tried uninstalling PSE11 several times, no change. Have not tried re-installing windows 8, am trying to avoid this approach if possible to not inconvenience all the users but maybe this is the only solution. I guess I am looking for some guidance in this regard.
Henry please see Troubleshoot install using logs | Elements - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/troubleshoot-install-usin g-logs-elements.html for information on how to locate the exact error during the installation process.
Tried the ASA, the following was information solution was provided, but don't think this is applicable to my problem because I am not trying to install CS5. I will try the other troubleshooting options you suggest and let you know what I find.
"Install error "Update is not applicable" | CS5 update.
I cannot insert an image of the PSE11 INSTALLER LOG, I have tried jpg, gif, pdf, docx, txt, rtf and none work. There are a quite a few error messages, maybe I should just re-install windows. There is everything from needing to defrag, cannot install to a cd driver, network drive etc, uninstall the trial version first. I have two SSD 512 GB drives, I installed on a SSD upon which the OS was not installed, not sure that matters but is a little out of the norm.
You are welcome to copy the portion of the installation log which contains error messages and paste it to this discussion thread.
You may want to consider doing a search on the errors while you have them in your clipboard. Per step five you can do a search in our knowledgebase at http://helpx.adobe.com/support.html. This will help you determine the solution to resolve the error messages you are currently receiving.
Thanks for your help, below is a partial list from the log.

It looks as if you are unable to write to the installation directory. Did you try to customize the installation location? You can find information on how to adjust your file permissions at Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html.
I originally tried to load PSE11 to drive different than the drive upon which the OS is loaded, so I think the answer to your question is yes. I will review the link provided and let you know how it goes.
Why cannot I not completely un-installed PSE and then re-installed to the drive upon which the OS is loaded, i.e. load PSE11 to the default location, I have tried this and it does not resolve the problem.
