Bridge CS6 is resizing in raw to 240ppi

If I open a scanned film .tif image in raw, it is being resized and then that size is applied to the image file.

Original image:

2400ppi, 1.4 x 0.9", 3341 x 2236 px, 21.38 mb

open in Camera Raw and make no changes

open to Photoshop CS6 & now the image is:

240 ppi, 13.921 x 9.317", 3341 x 2236 px, 21.38 mb

Save a copy as a .tif, and the copy is:

240 ppi, 13.921 x 9.317", 3341 x 2236 px, 21.38 mb

Why is Bridge doing this?

Can I assume that the only difference is in how the file is displayed and that there are no actual changes made to the file data?

Why 240ppi?

I see that I can change the ppi using the Workflow Options dialog, but where would I set the default, if I wanted to use a different number?

Does any of it matter?

Forget about ppi and dpi, concentrate on image size in pixels.  As you can see that has not changed.

Besides this, the default setting of ACR is 240 ppi, if you want it to be 300 ppi for whatever reason (like Curt said, the amount of pixels is what makes the file size, ppi is just a setting displaying the dimensions per pixel, no more no less) use the blue line (like a web link) at the bottom of the ACR window and set it to whatever you like it to be
