Is there an alternative to flash for animation?

May 14, 2013 12:02 PM

I have a flash sequence on a clients website but it is not friendly with the menu as it overlaps. It is also unfriendly on ipods, ipads and the like.

We need to retain the animation sequence and wonder if it could be converted into another format which would be friendly across other formats and to my menu

Thank you in advance for feedback

Terry

    options, options, options

1.) create a video of the flash animation

2.) create a gif of the flash animation

3.) animate with jquery instead of flash

    best,

    Shocker

A .gif would be the only thing SIMPLE to replace the .swf file. Otherwise, you need to code it with jquery.

Edge Animate is Adobe latest tool for this if you want to explore it

Depending on what the animation consists of and your target audience, Edge Animate might very work well.  However, Edge animations output to HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.  Older browsers like IE8 and earlier won't see it.   If that's your target audience, drop your images into a jQuery image Slider.

    jQuery WOW Slider

    jQuery Nivo Slider

    Or use an animated GIF.
