Tried to print to PDF a 15 page InDesign document. The following error message was rerturned:

-----------------------------------------------

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%

%%[Page: 1]%%

%%[Page: 2]%%

%%[Page: 3]%%

%%[Page: 4]%%

%%[Page: 5]%%

%%[Page: 6]%%

%%[Page: 7]%%

%%[Page: 8]%%

%%[ Error: ioerror; OffendingCommand: readstring ]%%

Stack:

øR½=Ö¤%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%

%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

----------------------------------------------------------

I can go direct from word or my document scanner to PDF with no problems. I did notice though, that I have two instances of Acrobat 11 Pro under Installed Programs.

1. Adobe Systems, installed 5/14/2013, 1.93 GB, version 11.0.00

2. Adobe Systems Incorporated, 5/14/2013,  1.85 GB, version 11.0

Perhaps this is causing some sort of conflict but which one do I remove?

Please help.

Moved from the Creative Cloud to the InDesign forum. They will be able to help you here.

We need more info. What version of ID (including installed updates)? What OS?  What settings?

Why do you want to print to PDF instead of exporting? You lose a lot by distilling.

When do you get the message that installation failed? Do you have Acrobat Pro installed?

You should post in the Acrobat forum about why the update is failing. They probably know how to fix that.

You're saying that no Adobe products will update?

That's either a permissions problem or possibily the update manager.

Try reinstalling the extension manager. see http://forums.adobe.com/message/5273871#5273871
