How to remove thin black borders on Main Menu?

May 20, 2013 6:47 PM

I'm creating a DVD project in Encore 3, and I can't seem to remove the thin black bars on my Main and Chapter Menus.

1) Project Settings are set to:

Authoring Mode: DVD

Television Standard: NTSC

Dimensions: 720x480

Frame Rate: 29.97i

Codec: MPEG-2

2) I've imported my .mov files at 1920x1080

3) I created my Main and Chapter menus as 853x480px .psd files, which I then imported to Encore.

When I burn a sample disc or preview in Encore, only the Main and Chapter menus have the thin bars, not the videos themselves.

Why are you creating a menu that is 853x480 for a 720x480 Project?

What happens if you use one of the pre-made standard definiton menus?

If you search this a bit, you find that the 853x480 is an anamorphic SD widescreen using Apple dimensions.

Mark, as John suggests, use an Encore library menu and modify it. I assume you want wide screen SD.

    Please post a screenshot.

You are making a DVD, so use the Wide (not HD wide).

The problem with the blank menus for this purpose, is that we cannot tell if it is the menu or your graphics that are the problem.

Use a regular library menu (just for the test purpose) so you can see if your background is different from the full menu.
