Using UNC path from Client in VOD application

Is it possible to have AMS use a UNC path passed from the client as the path to the VOD file?

AMS by default looks into the defined VOD_DIR/media folder, but I want to have AMS just taking the UNC it gets from the Client and try resolving that absolutely and not in relation to a defined stream root.

I would like an abstrac/point of direction of how this could be done; do I need to handle it in the main.asc? can it be done by composing the rtmp url request to AMS in a special way (which it doen't seem to)? etc...

The reasoning behind this idea, is that we are having our video assets on multiple drives and the easiest and cleanest way would be to be able to use an UNC path to point to the file.

We are trying to get this to work as a proof of concept, but needs as AMS is all new to us, it would be great to get a point of direction, in this new teritory.

This is the idea in a diagram-draft.

Thank you for any help or pointers!
