I have used Photoshop Elements 9 for a couple years without incident. Recently, when I click upon the Organizer, the program simply shuts down, goes away. If I enter through the Editor, I can access the Organizer, but many of my recent photos will show only as an hourglass when viewed as thumbnails. Yesterday I purchased Photoshop Elements 11, uninstalled Photoshop Elements 9, and installed 11. I still have the exact same problems. How do I fix it?
Try selecting the thumbnails (Shift+Click) or (Ctrl+A) to select all, then click on the top menu
Edit >Update Thumbnail For Selected Items
If that doesn’t work close Elements and delete the thumbnail cache which sometime becomes corrupted. Navigate to:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\<Catalog name>
Inside the MyCatalog folder (or whatever name you gave your catalog) you should find a CACHE file:
After deleting that file restart the elements Organizer and wait whilst it regenerates thumbnails.
I tried your first solution in a photo file with only 4 pictures in it and 2 were hourglasses instead of photos. When I clicked "update thumbnails", all 4 turned into hourglasses, so I called that a fail and moved to step 2. I have the Vista operating system if that makes a difference. I'm not seeing exactly what you're telling me to look for. When I navigate to Computer, C drive, I find Program Files but not ProgramData. Under Program Files, I find Adobe, Elements 11 Organizer, but nothing called Catalogs. Where have I gone wrong?
