Image size reduction

May 24, 2013 3:51 AM

JUST GETTING INTO USING PHOTOSHOP AND WOULD LIKE SOME GUIDANCE IF POSSIBLE WITH THIS.  I'VE UPLOADED SOME

IMAGES FROM MY CAMERA AND ARE TOO LARGE TO EMAIL.  THEY AVERAGE APPROX. 3.6 MB AND HAVE TO BE UNDER 500K.

HOW THRU PHOTOSHOP CAN I REDUCE THE FILE SIZE TO MAKE THEM MORE MANAGEABLE?

THANKS

In full editor, go to File>save for web

Select JPEG in the drop-town for e-mail.

In the new size box, I ususally enter 800 px for the long side. Be sure that "constrain proportions" is ticked.

When you save as, give it another name so that you retain the original.
