weird distortion of shapes when increasing the stroke weight in illustrator

May 24, 2013 5:01 AM

In Illustrator CS6, when I increase the stroke weight of an object - eg an octagon, as I increase the stroke weight, the object becomes more and more distorted. What is the reason for this and how do I stop it from happening? It's a common problem as I've encountered it many times now. It's very annoying.

Turn off the infernal Snap To Pixel Grid option for the object. Also turn it off for new objects.

    Sparky,

Did you turn it off while the octagon was selected (I apologize if this is a silly question)?
