I lost my Indesign files after deinstalling, any way to get them back?

Jun 14, 2013 6:33 AM

I deinstalled Indesign this morning and it removed everything, including the files I had created. What the hell? Did it just move them somewhere else? Are they lost? I put more then 3 weeks of work in there. Thankful for a quick and helpful answer!!!

Uninstalling the application will not delete your files.

They should be whereever you saved them.

That said, for future use, you might want to give this a read:

As said, uninstalling the app should not delete your documents, unless you put them inside a folder that was part of InDesign's application components, which would be odd.

However, the important point is that if you have no backup, you can expect to lose files. A minimum is having a local backup on another physical device; you can then add off-site cloud storage as well.
