Drawing a line

I need to be able to draw a line on my .jpg picture but cannot find the facility in Photoshop Elements 10?

    Try the pencil tool. Right-click on the brush (see image below) to see the choices or press the letter N on the keyboard.


    Click on the start point for your line, then hold down shift and click the end point. You should get a perfectly straight line.

    There is also the Line tool, where you can specify the line width and color and also arrowheads at either or both ends.

    You can use any brush. Click at the beginning of the line, hold down the shift key, then click where you want to finish.


    So, if you want to get a square line, use one of the square brushes. For a round line, use a round brush.


    It's a good idea to put the line on a blank, new layer. This way, you can use the move tool to adjust the position of the line, if necessary.


    It works with the eraser tool as well. Very handy to tidy up ..
