Hi all,

Just to make sure that I have you covered for this release, go through my notes before you complete installing Dreamweaver CC.

<Getting started tutorials for free! http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/learn/start/dreamweaver.html

There have been many changes to menu options and the user interface in this release. Do not get worked up if you don't see your options in their usual places. The document http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/the-new-modernized-dreamweave r-cc.html contains a list of all changes to DW CC.

I have created these notes over discussions I have had in the past few days. If you find anything that is incorrect or misleading, please bring it to my notice.

Read the system requirements for the update:

http://www.adobe.com/in/products/dreamweaver/tech-specs.html

Read the new features in this release

Perpetual license holders that have upgraded to the cloud

  • You do not have to uninstall your CS6 applications unless you are running short of system requirements. You will, however, have to reinstall all your plug-ins for the CC applications.
  • If you are uninstalling, ensure that you run the uninstaller instead of any shortcut options available. If you are having problems installing your software after an uninstall, retry after using the Cleanup tool http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
  • When you open the Adobe Application manager, you will be asked to install the Creative Cloud application. Install the software before you start installing your applications. If you are having problems installing, close and re-open your browser, or clear your browser cache. For more information on the CC application, see http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-desktop.html.
  • After the Desktop CC application is installed, proceed to install your applications as required. Ensure that you fulfill the system requirements for each software before install.
  • Before you call support for any help, see http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/topics/getting-started.html. It would be a good idea to post your query on the Downloading, installing, and setting up forum (http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup). Other users will probably be up and running the same time as you do, and they might be able to offer solutions.

For existing Creative Cloud users that are updating

  • DO NOT use Help > Update to install your applications. There is no harm in doing so, but that route will not help you install our new CC desktop application manager.
  • Open your Adobe Application Manager. You will be asked to install the CC desktop application. Complete installing the CC desktop application before you proceed. If you are having problems installing, close and re-open your browser, or clear your browser cache.  For more information, see http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-desktop.html.
  • Update your software as required from the list in the application.
  • If you have uninstalled any software previously, and your update isn't installing, run the Cleanup tool and retry http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
  • If you have not updated any previously installed CS6 application that is still present on your computer, you could be asked to update the CS6 version as well. Do not get confused or worried.

I will be hearing you through the next few days, and will be reporting from the various social platforms. While I am sure that most of you will sail smoothly, I will try to guide the rest over any rough waters.

Thanks,

Preran

I have been a Dreamweaver user since the very early days under Macromedia.  Today I will be leaving Dreamweaver forever.  You've seriously removed all database interaction and removed database, bindings and server behaviors panels? Does anyone who develops Dreamweaver actually develop web sites?  If I wanted to handcode all my data functionality, I'd use a text editor.  In fact, that's what I'll be doing from now on. The main advantage Dreamweaver had over it's competitors has just been abandoned.

This functionality should absolutely have been in place on day one - saying that a third part extension may be on the way is not enough.  This is many people's first tool of work - if the core functionality is no longer provided and maintained by Adobe, then I can no longer trust it.  I'm sure that many thousands of others agree with me.

Yes thanks Preran - it was a life saver after a day which cost me £600 in lost revenue.  Such a shame that your tech support team aren't aware of this.  It took the young lady I spoke to twenty minutes to discover the functionality had even been removed, let alone a way to restore it.

It's my own fault, I should not have trusted Adobe and updated during the working week, I now know that Adobe can no longer be trusted to have fully documented and checked their software and will think twice before automatically updating from now on.

When are these data tools going to get the attention they deserve rather than Dreamweaver becoming nothing but a CSS design tool?  You guys focussed on the wrong area for your target audience.  Many of us are very disappointed.

    I TAKE IT BACK

The panels are there, but the insert/update/delete record wizards are still nowhere to be seen.

    Back to square one.

    * Mac OS X: /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CC/Configuration/DisabledFeatures

I applied the Deprecated_ServerBehaviorsPanel_Support.zxp for CC, but in the same folder ASP_JS_Support.mxp. The .mxp extension is for older versions of DW. How is this going to effect CC? I installs to Extension Manager CS6 no CC where it is required. Extension Manager CC cannot read .mxp.

I found a thread to convert .mxp fo .zxp with Extension managar CS6. However the extension ASP_JS_Support.mxp once converted throws the following error on installatiion.

    DWCC-error.jpg

There is no \menus folder where the extension is pointing.

How is this going to effect CC?

    Good Catch There.

    DW CC doesnt supports MXP.

Here is the link to summary of steps required to convert mpx to ZXP.

    Hi Preran!

    Thanks, I answer You - http://forums.adobe.com/message/5434454#5434454

and can repeat - this is not a answer, not answer what Users wait :-)

This is time for look arround for Adobe alternative.

We have cheap but great altenative for Photoshop, Ilustrator, now time for Dreamweaver

On business courses very popular stories about product killer - they always start from cheap, not full desision and always kill "leaders" who's not thinking about Users. May be now time for Adobe management - re-study some busines theory? Now Your leader ... Yes, but for how many Years?

I have several subscription products, all of them - or much. much cheaper, or have Exit strategy, when I stop subscription.

It's look very good - "Just" 60-70 EUR for ALL product, but I don.t need Premier or other ...

    P.S. Sorry, I can't stop! :-)

I just at Feb-March pay more than 2500EUR for Adobe product and You change rules of the Game! I don't have civil words! :-)

The money - is not biggest problem, the problem is - after 2-3 Year all customer will be slave of adobe

If adobe decide - remove for example MySQL support, You don't have a choice ... You can't stop pay and You can't upgrade to new version ... Like You all You live continue pay for Dreamweaver CS2 ... Excelent feauture.

It's real time for start alternative prodjects.
