Hello friends,

I have a recording with a man who is speaking int he foreground and music running in the back. I would like to remove or at least make the music less annoying.

I tried to play around with filters and searched a lot at google and this forum but coudln't find a way to filter this music.

Any help/suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Can't even open the file, I'm afraid - try it again as an MP3. But regardless of that, I don't think you're going to stand any chance at all with this, as the background sound is completely variable and in the same range as speech. No software at all can isolate signals like that (despite what you hear on US cop shows...).

Let me know if you still don't think that it would be possible to eliminate or mute the backgroundmusic.

I still don't. It's nearly at the same level, definitely at similar frequencies and it's not continuous. There is no algorithm available anywhere to deal with that; the only thing you could do is identify by ear what's speech and what isn't, select it and mute the music bits. Audition has a level detector in it, but it's not going to work in this situation, because the levels you want to detect vary too much.
