I was mid-project when I realized my greys had mysteriously become tinted blue. I then continued messing with every color setting I could find, but nothing worked. And I'm sure it's not a display issue, because my other projects appear just fine. My whites are now (3,0,0,0), in both the document and swatches. What on earth did I do? And how do I do it?
Have you had changes of Color Settings/Profiles?
It would probably be far worse if you had switches between CMYK and RGB,
Since the white would become darker, and the same with other shades probably, I am afraid there is no easy solution such as converting to grayscale.
If you have an unwanted 3% extra cyan tint on all objects you can correct it with Edit > Edit Colors > Adjust Color Balance.
Enter –3% in the cyan line.
This will of course only work if everything is 3% more cyan than it should be.
Well, after the problem occurred, I made the mistake of switching back and forth a few times, which seems to have compounded the problem.
I made the color adjustment Cyan -3%, and it seemed to come extremely close to bringing back normal colors. The swatches, however, remain unaffected by the adjustment, which leads me to believe that an adjustment didn't cause the initial change. I'm perplexed.
That's a given. So how did it all change at the same time in the first place? Again, perplexed. How could I possibly have made a wholesale color adjustment of all artwork and swatches at the same time? Especially without even knowing.
Dunno. Did you start off in RGB or CMYK?
If you’re working for print you should definitely start off in CMYK and keep it that way.
Do not hop between RGB and CMYK unnecessarily. It will play havoc with colours.
