Compression Questions - H.264 Codec

Jun 23, 2013 7:27 AM

Hi,

I have a question about the recommended recommended codec on the Vimeo site - H.264.

According to Wiki this is the same thing as MPEG4 and the most used codec, but I couldn't find this in my premier elements codec settings, only mpeg2.

My version is 9.0

Am I possibly missing it due to an old version, or maybe it's under a different name and I am just missing it?

At one time I also thought i saw a page up here that had recommended settings for uploading to Vimeo, but I couldn't find it upon doing a forum search.

Thanks!

Versions 10 and 11 have much more advanced AVC/MP4 output options -- but you can still output an H264 video from version 9.

Just use Share/Mobile Phones and Players/Apple iPod and iPhone and it will produce a 640x480 mp4 that should work fine on Vimeo.

    Did you not find

    Share/Computer/MPEG with its H.264 presets

    H.264.m2t

    and

Share/Computer/QuickTime and under the Advanced Button of one its preset/

    Video Tab

    Video Codec = H.264

    for H.264.mov

Although the Share/Mobile Phones and Players/Apple iPod and iPhone/iPod and iPhone - High Quality is an excellent route to a

    H.264.mp4.

    Thanks for the follow up.

Just a consideration about upgrading Premiere Elements....please think about going the free 30 day tryout route from Adobe before purchase, just to make sure that Premiere Elements will be compatible with your computer environment and meet your video editing/exporting needs.
