Fireworks CS6 and Illustrator CC compatibility

Jun 24, 2013 11:18 AM

I'm wondering if the ability to copy/ paste from Illustrator CC to Fireworks CS6 has been intentionally disabled? Its hard to imagine that this is intentional since Adobe currently doesnt have another UX /UI app other than Fireworks yet.

Or is this a bug (or client side settings) waiting to be fixed.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I am utterly speechless that this functionality doesn't work. So frustrating how poor Adobe's products are.

    Too much issuues with CC.
We are still paying for this software, are you doing something to fix it?

How do you think to replace FW?

Thats the reason why I was cancelling the CC-Package and use CS6 instead. I don´t pay for a software that has so mich issuues.

We (a team of 6) have recently upgraded to CC and this issue is hurting us a big time! All our logos are saved in ai/eps/pdf formats and there's no way to bring the vector into FW. Compared to Photoshop, Fireworks is still the better program to use when it comes to eDM/Webpage design - ease of adding different states/pages/slices and vector images, aligning objects and getting the measurements accurate to pixel width really easy, and this issue is hurting our productivity. Does anyone know any workaround please? :-(

Ah it seems to work if you save your illustrator file as a legacy file in CS6 format and open that up in Firework... Ah but what a hassle!

Save the illustrator file as Illustrator CS6 file, and then open it with fireworks, works perfectly

It's copying and pasting from Illustrator to Fireworks that is the issue though, I don't want to open up an AI file in Illustrator just to get one element.

I've just forked out for a year's CC and now, getting down to actually do some work I discover this. This is absurd.

I appreciate that FW has been shut down but I'd expect a promise to 'maintain' it to include keeping such a fundamental feature as copy 'n paste intact. Is this seriosuly not going to be addressed?

Save the illustrator file as Illustrator CS6 file, and then open it with fireworks, works perfectly

Not if you frequently maintain large files of elements, such as icon libraries etc. in single illustrator documents and are used to rapidly switching between AI and FW to grab vector elements or to tweak something. Inserting the need to save the AI doc and open it in FW, then locate the bit you want and then cut 'n paste is ridiculous.
