InDesign drop shadow effecting source object unexpectedly

Jun 25, 2013 3:45 PM

Started with a block of colored text, converted it to outlines. Adding a drop shadow effect darkens the text color by the percentage of black I select in the drop shadow dialog. Does the same whether the selected blending mode is "normal" or "multiply". What's going on I wonder? Thanks for any tips.

Make screen captures and upload them with the Camera icon in the forum editor software. You're not allowed to post attachments.

You can upload PDFs to something like dropbox.com and provide a link. Might be better/clearer.

This might be just onscreen darkening of colours - it might not be happening at all - but the computer needs to "shift" to dispaly transparencies, like drop shadows and other effects - and this might be what you're seeing.

You can check the Percentages of the inks with the View>Output>Separations and see what percentages are showing up. I doubt they are changing though.
