I'm a professor whose college class produces an iPad magazine app with Adobe DPS. We wish to have buttons on the magazine that play samples of songs from iTunes. I can see that we can use Link Maker to open the iTunes site to get to the song, but we just want to play the sample audio. Is there any way to just make the audio play in the app? Btw, our apps are single-issue, free and distributed by iTunes.
Hi Bob -- I did see this path for creating an iTunes link before, but it only opens a web page and doesn't play the song. I'm hoping to play the sample of the song only, so their isn't a conflict with their service. We can always put in a link to the iTunes store to actually buy it. College students are big on sampling music!
That's what we thought, too. Worse, once you've tapped the song in iTunes, you're not only outside the app, but it won't stop playing when you return to DPS, even if you change the page. You have to go back to iTunes and tap off or wait for the sample to end. Seems like this should be easy! Rolling Stone has an in-app start and stop button.
