    Considering the possibility that several recipients or more will open it on a smartphone which is incompatible with Flash.... the question would be "Why would you want to?"

    Explain to them that ANYONE AND EVERYONE they send it to, who opens the email on a smartphone.... WILL NOT SEE IT, and thus, they are wasting their time to have you design it.

    And not just smartphones. No email client (maybe apple mail) will show it by default.

    Show your client this article.

    E-mail + Flash = bad.

    E-mail + JavaScript = bad.

    E-mail + animation = bad.

    The best you can do is insert an animated gif from your client's server.  Give them a link to actual web page.

    Link to the image in your email like this -

    <table width="639" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">

      <tr>

        <td width="639"><img src="http://www.example.com/cusp-be-cool.gif" width="639" height="1039" /></td>

      </tr>

    </table>

    That is, you need to use an absolute link to the image on some server.
