Divide a Letter into Three Different Colors

Is it possible to divide a letter into three different colors? That is top one color, middle another color and bottom a different color. If so how do you accomplish that, thanks.

    One way would be to use a gradient. Create 3 stops for each color, then the half way mark between those stops, add 2 stops for the color to the left and color to the right. This will give the gradient a sharper line between the 3 colors.

    As you get more advanced you may want to try an Opacity Mask, it can accomplish this as well.
