Black border appears around ice cream image on pdf

Jul 5, 2013 2:37 AM

Hi all, I have a strange query.. I am creating a peice of artwork in illustrator. I have cut out the icecream image in photoshop and placed it in illustrator as a psd file.

It looks fine in illustrator, looks like it should do. The problem occurs when I export to pdf, a black border around the ice cream image appears.

However when I print the black border does not display. So the issue with the black border only appears on the pdf. Check out the attachment beow for example of what I mean.

Hope this makes sense. Any help would be fantastic!

Thank you very much

I think you have nothing to worry about.

Check the image in different zoom %s and see if the black line disappears at high zoom.

If it does, it is just a screen artifact.

Incidentally, how is the image masked?

I have seen this sort of thing happen when clipping paths (PS) or clipping masks (AI) are used.

You might do better to use a layer mask in Photoshop (so the rest of the image is transparent in a psd file).

    Then place the psd file.

    This should definitely be o.k.

Reckon you must be just looking at a screen artifact.

You mean a tasty screen artifact, Steve?
