New install on a Windows 7 professional machine, using direct download from Adobe.  I have Photoshop CS5 which I left alone and installed CS6 as new.

Photoshop CS6 64bit launches OK but when I select Browse in Bridge I got an appcrash.  I applied the Bridge 64bit update and get the same crash:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Application Name: Bridge.exe

The same happens if I open Bridge 64 directly.

If I try holding CTRL down, i get the preferences window but clicking any combination of  the three options and  continuing gives exactly the same error.

I've searched for solutions and see that this complaint has been going for some considerable time..

What do i do?

Did you install PS as a defalult installation on drive C, or did you install with user options?

Did you move any install files after installation?

Early on this was a problem when user moved Temp file off of drive C.  But that was fixed in later versions.  In PS go to help/updates and update to recent versions.

This is confusing.  Do you get same result if you launch from PS?

Don't fall into trap of unistalling CS5, there should be no conflict.  But do open Task Manager and click on Processes TAb.  Check for any instance of Bridge.exe.  If found close.  CS5 Bridge may be running in background, although this should not cause crash.

I assume CS5 Bridge works normally?

This seems really odd.  Normally uninstall and reinstall is not my recomendation, but in this case don't know what is left.  May be an installation problem.
