I had PSE 6 on both my laptop and my desktop. I upgraded my desktop from Vista to Win 7 prox64 and have the original install DVD. When I try to install in my new OS it installs properly but on first use it asks for serial number. I type the correct number and it says "The number that you entered is not valid...." I suspect that it may not allow because of the registration of my old installation.
How many computers are allowed? Do I need to deactivate the software on my laptop (the only other computer with the same PSE serial number)? If so, can I reactivate on my laptop when I need the software in the field??
Most versions of photoshop elements 6 don't have activation and if yours did, you'd probaly get a different message like that you have pse 6
activated on two other computers.
There are 24 numbers in the serial plus the dashes between each set of four numbers, so you would type
(the X's below represent numbers)
Yes I do have the orginal DVD case and the numbers are clear. I assumed, like you, that I must've made a mistake in entering the 24 numbers. After re-entering them three times I concluded that isn't the problem.
Do I neeed to contact Adobe. If so, how. Or is there something else that I shouild try??

Actually, what I did was to register my copy of PsE 6 on my laptop, then uninstalled PsE 6 on my desktop, and reinstalled.
I don't know what the critical step(s) was, but it now accepted my serial number and is working properly.
Thanks for your help.
