Why does the Adobe Revel app for OS X advise me to backup?

I was under the impression that Revel was a cloud service, and therefore the pictures would be safe and sound there. Is this mostly to protect users from themselves if they go and delete the pictures from Revel?

This is a way for you to have a backup copy on your computer of what is stored in the cloud in Revel. Some users like to disable this and others like the peace of mind of knowing there are two copies of everything.
