Windows 8 - Resetting InDesign preferences

Jul 20, 2013 8:33 AM

Hi

I'm used to resetting InDesign (another CS products) using Shift+Ctrl+Alt. However, having recently changed to Windows 8, this doesn't seem to work. I can still reset the preferences manually and clear the recently used items list manually but not by using the keyboard cmds when launching the program.

Anyone any ideas how to achieve this.

Thanks

George

If you're using the keyboard method of resetting preferences, you often must be very fast to apply the keystrokes immediately after launching InDesign.

You do it immediately after you start ID from the program icon or start menu. It may work if you hold the keys down first, but no guarantee.

At what point are your pressing Shift+Alt+Ctrl. I've tried on the Metro Screen and on the exe file itself but I don't get the Delete InDesign Preferences File option.

The way I do is to press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT before clicking on the launch Icon.  This is what I get if I do it that way:

    Good luck.
