Unable to create font

Aug 7, 2013 6:02 PM

I keep getting this "Unable to create font" error when I have missing footage in the latest version of AE CC. Very annoying and won't go away.

Is this a known bug in the latest update (wasn't doing it previously) or do I have an incorrect setting somewhere? Is there a work around?

cheers

Pete

Reinstall the Verdana and Tahoma fonts from Microsoft.

why would I want to install Microsoft fonts when I'm on a Mac?

Because it will most likely fix the problem?

Mmh, sounds odd... Works just fine on PC. If it's in any way related, it would mean that the italic version of the font is inaccessible. Do you use any font managers? On second thought it could also be that your Mac attempts to use anotehr font like Myriad or Helvetica, so check each and every font on your system...

Disable Suitcase and see, if it works with the system's native font handling. The font manager could be interfering with font family grouping or otehr things.

This was happening to me, but I upgraded Suitcase fusion to the latest release and cleaned the font caches from within Suitcase Fusion, restarted, problem solved

Found it, turned out (as Mylenium suggested) Myriad Pro is the font AE CC uses for the placeholder filename.

    Hi Todd,

I just updated AE CC this morning and I got the Unable to load font "^0" "Helvetica Neue" error.  Didn't get that error until the update.  Need to use AE ASAP.  Thoughts?

EDIT:  I'm not using any font management software, BTW.  All other Adobe CC apps open fine on OSX 10.8.5
