Two questions about tabs in the exporter UI:
Is it possible to hide a tab in the exporter UI?
..or to reorder tabs in UI?
as per the docs you can force a tab prior to the video & audio if you make it the Multiplexer keyword.
Other than that there is no greater control - and per my experience there is no .hidden functionality.
So I guess the answer is no - but I wish it were yes for better functionality.
But sidecar files can still be created using these settings even if the exporter doesn't have any built-in caption support. Is the format completely separate from the notion of captions? It would clarify things to know what format you're writing an exporter for.
I writing a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) exporter, and I want the user to select an existing subtitle file (CineCanvas xml-file) in my subtitle tab, which is then added to the package. I think it is a bit confusing for the user to have a Captions tab and a Subtitle tab.

Agreed but I don't think there is a work around.
It's the same issue as not being able to hide the FTP tab.
oh I just thought of something - granted very hacky...
If you look at the presets file you'll be able to see what the parameter id is for the Caption elements.
Based on that you could reprogram how they are drawn and do a rebuild of the GUI on every call to exPostProcessing.
I don't know if it'll work to modify the Captions tab elements but if it does work you can move the DCP subtitles functionality there - which is where it belongs anyhow.
