Flash countdown size issue

Can someone advise me on how to bring down my countdown file size.  It is about 140k and when I add the jpeg background it adds another 25k. I need it to come out to 70k all together. I tried adjusting the jpeg quality but it seems like the issue is with the countdown. I am stuck.

What is in the file?  If you go into your Flash Publish Settings you can select the option to Generate a Size Report.  That report will breakdown how much weight is being contributed by the various elements in the file.

The actionscript you show is not going to contribute much weight to the file at all.  Actionscript rarely does.  The size report should say how much there is... I just checked and it says it's only 369 bytes.

The weight of the file will be dictated by visual/audio content in the file.

If you happen to be using any components, those can be fairly weighty objects.   A TextArea by itself can add nearly 40K to a file
