Animating a vector image I created using Illustrator

Aug 26, 2013 7:49 PM

I want to take an illustrated picture of a ship and animate it sailing around the water in the background with After Effects, is that possible? If so, what is the most efficient way of going about it? Thanks!

    Hi accel world7,

Yes, it's absolutely possible, but we could use more info. How do you want it to look? Any screen shots or YouTube examples?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Just basic keyframing - place the anchor point at the bottom of the ship, then move and rotate it it suitably. Watch some tutorilas.

Each element should be on a separate layer. Do that in illustrator then import the .ai file as a composition retaining layer sizes, adjust your anchor points as needed, and animate away. EZ as pie.
