I've completed a new computer system build. I am downloading necessary programs for school. I supposedly downloaded install_flashplayer_exe after closing Firefox. I have attempted several times to install Adobe Reader but continue to receive the dreaded, "Failed to initialize" message.
I have tried IE 8, Chrome, and Firefox. Each time I turn off Avast. Still it will not download. I can't find any adobe products in my add-ons or plug-ins or extensions. This is getting so frustrating. I'm using Windows XP SP3.
Any help will be greatly appreciated....Toda1
I am aware that Flash Player and Reader have nothing in common. I downloaded Flash Player from a link I found on the forums. I can't download Adobe Reader v 11 because I keep getting "Failed to initialize". Even after I turn off Avast. Thanks for your post.
Download and run the offline installers
Adobe Reader: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Flash Player: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-pla yer-windows.html#main-pars_header (under the heading Progress bar hangs...)
Thank you so much for the links. I see in control panel under add programs where everything downloaded successfully. I really appreciate your insight and help. As a grad student, I can now view videos from my professors. I really appreciate your help.
