Audition CS6 Won't allow the import of .aaf formatted OMFs?

Sep 15, 2013 10:58 PM

I'm in post on a feature film, and I've found myself with the unfortunate task of doing sound design. Because I don't have the money to buy Pro Tools, or Logic, I wanted to use Audition or Premiere CS6 to sound design the film. My editor gave me the Vocal and Sound files in seperate OMF's in the .aaf format. But, when I open Audition or Premiere, neither find the files and won't allow me to open them, when I force it.

What can I do to get Adobe to open these files so I can get to work? The clock is ticking and I don't know what to do.

Take a look at AATranslator. But it's not free I'm afraid.

Alternatively try and get the editor to send you the raw audio files and a preview video file and track lay yourself.

That is unusual as Audition has one of the best OMF converters going around

Email me via the aatranslator web site - I'd be happy to take a look at those files and see what we can do to get you back in action

Audition has great support for OMF, but not AAF.  If the projects are embedded within an AAF container, you'll need to use something like Premiere Pro to extract them, or request the OMFs separately.
