How to track an area and insert a video (such as the teletubbies stomaches with tv's)?

Oct 17, 2013 2:45 PM

It is difficult to explain, but I would like to place tv's (videos) on my characters (actors) stomaches, that can slightly move and change shape with their bodies. Though it seems difficult I know it can be done as it was done in 1997 with Teletubbies.

17:05- 17:50 is a very clear representation of what I am talking about.

I would really appreciate the help! Thanks!

    1. Open up your footage in the footage viewer in AE by double clicking on the footage in the Project Panel
    2. Set an in and out point for your shot leaving a bit of extra (handles) at the in and out point so you can edit later
    3. Drag the footage from the Project Panel to the Create New Comp icon or Select, right click, and choose New Composition from Selection
    4. Set your work area to Motion Tracking
    5. Track the footage in Mocha and set the tracker over the area you want to follow
    6. Choose Corner Pin Data from Mocha's export menu and copy to clipboard.
    7. Add the full screen video you want to place on the actor to the composition
    8. Select the video layer and paste

Except for some work on color grading and blending you're done.

There are a ton of mocha tutorials out there. This is just about as basic as plainer tracking gets.
