Dreamweaver - page elements wrapping - how to stop it?

Oct 18, 2013 4:23 AM

My school web-site - www.bws.wilts.sch.uk lets the page elements wrap down - this web-site: http://www.charterhouse.org.uk does not - it just allows the elements to become smaller and one can still see the left-hand side of the screen. How do I stop my elements wrapping down the browser page?

Thanks for any help.

Paul

    I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking how to make your page actively adapt to smaller screen sizes?

    Short answer:  change from liquid layout to a fixed-width layout.

    CSS:

    .thrColLiqHdr #container {

        background: #FFFFFF;

        margin: 0 auto; /* the auto margins (in conjunction with a width) center the page */

        border: 1px solid #000000;

        text-align: left; /* this overrides the text-align: center on the body element. */

        width: 100%;

         width: 1000px; /**adjust width to suit**/

    }

    Add this to your CSS:

    .thrColLiqHdr #sidebar1,

    .thrColLiqHdr #sidebar2 {

         margin-top: 110px;

    }
